On our 3rd day in Singapore we stayed at the Ramada at Zhongshan Park.  The hotel was really nice and had a shopping center attached to it with a wide variety of restaurants.  It was extremely convenient to have so many options nearby when we needed a quick snack.

Singapore Itinerary – Day 3

Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

This museum is only about a block away from the Ramada, so we walked there after breakfast.  The museum was very interesting, and there was an exhibit called “Stitches of Love”.  This temporary exhibit consisted of children’s clothing and accessories from ancient Chinese culture.  The displays told of the deep meaning behind making the clothing, and different motifs.  The museum entrance was complimentary when we went since we were staying at the Ramada.

The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall is right next door to the Bermese Buddhist Temple.  We did not go inside the temple, but the outside was so intricate, and beautiful.

Balestier Food Center

This is also walkable from the Ramada, and the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall.  We LOVED going to food courts & hawker centres in Singapore.  In fact, the hawker centres/food was probably my husbands favorite part of our entire trip.  The Balestier Food Center was only a few minute walk from the hotel.

The morning adventures were great, but the big plans for this day involved a trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia.  We booked our trip on-line in advance.  Although we were glad we went, it was not what we signed up for.  The trip was significantly shorter, and the activities we looked forward to most when booking weren’t a part of the trip when we got there.  Needless to say, we were a little dissapointed.  Since the company we booked through contracted out with a local agency, it seemed the information about the tour we booked through the bigger company was not up-to-date.  The local guides were great, however had we known what the tour actually entailed, we probably would have booked a different one.   We contacted the company we booked through afterwards, and they will be updating their website so as not to mislead future travelers.

• Breakfast – quick food from restaurant in mall attached to hotel
• Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall tour  (we spent ~ 1.5 hours here)
• Bermese Buddhist Temple (we did not tour this, just walked by)
• Balestier Food Center – quick lunch
• Trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Nights that our touring ended earlier, we often took an Uber downtown and would watch the light shows.
