Have you been to the Butterfly Gardens of Wisconsin? Are you traveling through the area this summer? Or, if you’re a fellow Sconnie… are you looking for something different to do with your family? Well, this is the perfect place to stop for an afternoon and here are 4 reasons why you should be sure to visit!
1. It is an interesting educational opportunity for kids & adults alike. When you purchase a pass to the Butterfly Gardens, it includes a small tour. Your group will learn all about butterflies – and likely see caterpillars – chrysalis – and of course you will see butterflies. In addition to the obvious, you may also learn about snakes and plants that attract butterflies (among other things).
2. You get to feed butterflies! Each person is given a Q-tip dipped in Gatorade, which you can gently place in front of the butterflies in the garden (if they aren’t already eating from a plant or fruit that is set out) & if you’re patient & still, they will hang onto the Q-tip while eating.
3. The gift shop has a wide selection of souvenirs, including seeds for plants that attract butterflies – I stocked up on these! There are all things butterfly inspired, including jewelry, and gifts for all ages.
4. And last, but not least, there is a maze cut into the lawn that is in the shape of a butterfly. You can wander through the maze, as well as check it out from an observation deck!
If you plan on being there awhile & bring a bag lunch, there are picnic benches available to sit outside & enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And, if you’re looking for a unique wedding venue, there is even a Wedding Chapel that can be rented for ceremonies!
