While in Alaska, we drove up to Fairbanks, where we went to the University of Alaska Museum of the North (very cool! will post more on the museum later) and then of course we had to make a stop at Santa Claus House, and visit North Pole, Alaska.
When talking with people before our trip, several recommended a visit here :) I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was really cute! We went shopping, and there was a nice range of touristy items to artsy things and more. I bought a scarf with moose on it, and a necklace pendant in the shape of a bear, made of hematite. Oh and we couldn’t help ourselves… we became property owners in Alaska! aka, we bought “one square inch of NORTH POLE, ALASKA” It came with a cute certificate and all.
There were bulletin boards inside which displayed adorable letter from children to Santa, AND, Santa was there! Yes, I went up to him and got my picture taken.
After shopping, we ate lunch at one of the picnic benches situated near Santa’s reindeer (across the parking lot from the store). They were cute to watch, although they were mostly resting.
The street names in North Pole were holiday themed, and it was a fun place to visit. We probably spent an hour and a half here including eating our lunch. Fun place to see!
