While we were in Springfield, we went to the famous Charlie Parker’s Diner, and caught a show at the Drive-In movie theater along Route 66. But, our main reason for heading to Springfield was to check out all the Abraham Lincoln sites.
Union Station (across the street from the Lincoln museum) had a display of movie sets, costumes, and props from the movie “Lincoln” which was released in 2012. I haven’t seen the movie yet, (though they had it playing in the background at this exhibit) but it’s on my list to watch now. Tickets to tour this exhibit were only a couple of dollars when bought with a museum ticket. We probably only spent 15 minutes or so looking at the displays set up at Union Station, but they were pretty neat and I was glad we checked it out.
So many elaborate details, I was very impressed by the costumes and sets!
Another gorgeous gown from the movie worn by Sally Field, who played Mary Todd Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln was played by Daniel Day-Lewis in the movie. It would have been really cool seeing the movie before going to the Museum and this exhibit but I think it will still be neat watching it now and being able to recognize several of the props and costumes!
I enjoyed stopping at this exhibit, it was a nice addition to all the Lincoln tourist sites nearby.
